About this job
Responsible for development and testing of genetic therapy product candidates for oncology involving harnessing the power of the immune system using cutting edge technologies. The Research Technician will perform activities in support of research and pre-clinical assay needs and animal studies. The Research Technician may assist in execution of in vitro assays in the laboratory in addition to animal procedures like inoculations, bleeding, minor survival surgery and autopsies. Specialized knowledge and expertise are used in performing technical aspects of the job, exercising judgment within generally defined practices and policies.
Duties
Design, implement and perform in vitro assays to test potency, activity and stability of bio-molecules.
Must be proficient in routine assays in molecular biology (e.g. cloning, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, Immunoblotting, reporter assays and Southern blotting).
Design quantitative PCR bioassays
Conduct small-animal survival surgeries in support of all activities in Research group.
Perform basic cell culture, PCR and other assays needed to support animal studies.
Evaluate new technology and assess its value in the development of new bioassays for product testing.
Maintain laboratory equipment; keep instruments in good condition, schedule/perform cleanings, calibrations and service/repairs.
Follow given timelines for all experiments, procedures and processes.
Promptly report experimental results, enter generated data into relevant databases, keep laboratory notebooks up to date, and follow corporate policy on recordkeeping.
Strictly follow approved SOPs and participate in writing of new SOP documents.
Conduct experiments with high level of accuracy and reproducibility.
Assist in writing, reviewing and editing of technical documents.
Perform other responsibilities as required.
Skills, Education, and Experience Required
Experienced BS (5+ years) or MS (3+ years) or a recent Ph.D. graduate in Biology or related life sciences.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant laboratory experience is required for candidates with a BS or a MS.
Experience in performing basic animal procedures are highly desired.
Experience in handling and use of viral vectors is necessary but not required.
