Due to our continued growth, there is an excellent opportunity for a Procurement Specialist with proven expertise and success in the pharmaceutical and/or biologics space. Reporting to the Director of cGMP Supply Chain and Logistics, this role will be responsible for analyzing and maintaining sufficient purchased material inventory levels. The Procurement Specialist will also be responsible for the purchasing activities for those materials including on-time delivery in a Material Requirement Planning (MRP) environment to support the Master Production Schedule (MPS).

Specific Job Duties

⦁ Determine optimum order lot sizes and inventory contingency levels to maximize material availability and warehouse utilization
⦁ Retrieve supplier quotes, generate purchase orders (POs), issue POs to suppliers, and maintain an update file on all open purchase orders
⦁ Resolve material issues with suppliers including: late deliveries, overages, shortages, and damages (OS&D), missing documentation, and material deviations
⦁ Take an active role in communicating service and inventory issues internally across various departments (including Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, etc.) and with management
⦁ Effectively manage supplier performance, develop new supplier relationships, and research alternative suppliers when necessary
⦁ Analyze, summarize, and communicate conclusions generated from system reports and recommend improvements when necessary
⦁ Perform supplier management functions including supplier corrective action record (SCAR), score card, and key performance indicators (KPI)
⦁ Maintain and input material master data into non-ERP and ERP information systems
⦁ Adhere to corporate governance of regulatory compliance processes related to material operations
⦁ Negotiate pricing and other purchasing efficiencies with suppliers including, but not limited to supplier agreements and quality agreements
⦁ Perform other duties as assigned by the Procurement Manager and/or Director of Supply Chain

Skills, Minimum Education, and Experience

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

⦁ Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of experience in a procurement or supply chain role within a regulated environment or seven (7) years of relevant procurement or supply chain experience.
⦁ Experience with procurement practices, methods, and techniques
⦁ Experience working in a non-ERP, manual system and within an ERP system
⦁ Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create basic reports, documents, presentations, and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
⦁ Ability to identify issues, compare data, investigate and resolve discrepancies
⦁ Proven analytical problem solver
⦁ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
⦁ Actively develops and follows best practices to ensure compliance of the company’s policies and procedures
⦁ Must have excellent decision-making skills and be able to think analytically to resolve problems
⦁ Track record of being a motivated self-starter who can work with minimum supervision.
